How it works

This app transcribes recordings of your negotiations with other students. You upload an audio file and the app will email you and the other students in your group the transcript. The transcript is useful when writing negotiation reports, because you can cite verbatim quotes from times when you or your counterparties used a negotiation technique particularly effectively (or unsuccessfully).

You are not required to record your negotiations, and you should check with the others in your meeting before doing so. But many negotiators have found recordings and transcripts to be a huge benefit in analyzing their tactics and results later on. It's easy to forget "who said what when," and the exact quotes can be powerful illustrations of technique. If you share the transcript with the instructor, we can include selected quotes from your negotiation in the "Sports Center Top 10" debriefs in class—but you can opt out if you do not like being GTIA-famous or helping your classmates learn from your experiences.

To use:

1. Record your negotiation as you like.
   • Voice Memos is included on iPhone/iMac
   • Recorder/Voice Recorder is included on Android devices
   • Sound Recorder is included with Windows
2. Select your negotiation exercise from the Uploads tab. If you are using a recording from something else, choose "Other Projects."
3. Upload your file when prompted. If you don't know where your recording is saved, use the search function on your device. (Google can explain how to locate a file, if you tell it which app and device you are using.)
